The Band's History
In 2002 Roswell based Chattahoochee Pipes & Drums and Marietta based Celtic Connection Pipes & Drums combined their collective talents and resources to become the new Chattahoochee Celtic Pipes & Drums. Celtic Connection was started in 1992 by Frank and Alice Mulligan of Marietta. Its members were from diverse backgrounds and musical talents. For ten years the band played at Southeastern based parades, gatherings, ceremonies and Scottish games - including the Stone Mountain Highland Games.

Chattahoochee - originally started by Rory Howe with the Roswell Police Department - served as an integral part of the department's Special Operations Unit, who in turn offered to serve as its original sponsor following the Stone Chattahoochee TartanMountain Games in 1995. The band was originally staffed with many players from the Roswell police and fire service. For almost seven years the band participated in numerous parades, ceremonies and Scottish games throughout the Southeast.

Our Tartan and Regalia
The band wears the beautiful Chattahoochee Tartan, designed for the City of Roswell prior to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, and officially registered to the City of Roswell by Lord Lyon. Members sport horse-hair sporrans, spats, bottle green hose, black glengarries with black and white cocks feathers, matching band logo shirts, and dark blue "woolie-pully" sweaters in the winter.

A Few Accolades
The band has had its share of succes through the years. It enjoyed the honor of winning first place at the Alabama Highland Games in Montgomery, AL, and second place at the Savannah Games in SC. It also served as the host band for the Culloden Games for four years after serving as its founding band. Because of its rich heritage, the band is considering getting back into competition soon.
